    Mr Rea worked the saw mills for three years and when he had all the wood he could get out of the demesne gone he went away and sold the sawmills.
    All that is left to show us that sawmills were in Collon is a huge heap of sawdust, and the bare place where the trees were cut down.

  2. Collon Nail-making
    About seventy years ago nail-making was carried on in Collon.
    The instruments the man who made them were an anvil, a vice and a nail rod which is a rod that is measured according to the length of the nail which is being made.
    When a nail was being made he cut it to the right length and sharpened it at one end. Then he put it in a vice and hammered a head on it.
    This nail-maker did a fairly good trade
