  1. Once upon a time there lived a lord and his wife and family in Thomastown Castle. They had three sons - whose names were Midnight, Twilight, and Dawn.
    Their mother was a very charitable lady, and was very good to the poor people living near the Castle. She took very ill and died, and the poor of Thomastown lost a great friend and donor. Now the Lord was a young man, and desiring that his sons be properly brought up and educated, married a young lady, The new mistress was a great change from her predecessor, and in a short time got to hate the three step sons. She planned and contrived at their deaths, and failing in all her plans grew suddenly ill. Doctors were called in and could find no symptoms of any illnesses. But still she continued to complain, and expressed a longing to be given three apples from a garden in a far away country.
    At last her husband decided to procure the apples. The step-mother had told her husband that Dawn would find the orchard, but his father was especially fond of Dawn, and did
