  1. In the year 1924 there was no rain for a long time. The people were praying and hoping for rain but there was no sign of it coming. The cattle and horses were dying with thirst even all the wells were getting dried up. The crops and grass ceased growing. Everywhere was brown and withered up. This weather continued for months. At last on a Sunday in September rain began with a terrible thunder storm. The people were so delighted that they opened their doors to let in the rain. They even ran out around the yard to get wet.
