    One night as Thomas Ryan was going home from Ironmills...

    One night as Thomas Ryan was going home from Ironmills and when he came as far as Sally’ Cross he saw a big heap on the road. When he turned up the road to his own house he saw a big black man in the dyke. He began to run and whenhe came as far as (hown) his own gate he stopped and when he saw the light he fell in a weakness
