  1. At Ballycullane Cross, Bulgaden, there grows a hawthorn tree which bears, instead of white thorn during May, beautiful rich red-thorn flowers. An old resident told me a Bishop was hung there in penal times, and that no matter what colour the white-thorn trees round it are, it will always be red, when in full bloom.

  2. Cnoc-samhna (Knocksouna) is a hill on the south of Kilmallock. There is an opening in the side of the hill and a person could enter it. Often, at night-time a hunt in full cry has been heard round about the hill.

  3. (no title)

Two or three men were coming home late at night after visiting a neighbour's house.
