side of the churn, and it is worked by twisting it. The churning takes twenty or thirty minutes to make. We know the butter is made when the handle is stiff. Water is poured in during the progress to help the grains to form. We put a muslin cloth on a sieve and place the sieve on top of a bucket, and we lift the butter with the scoop into the sieve and strain it. Then place it on the butter worker and roll it six times and salt it. I know no sayings connected with churning. Butter milk is used for drinking and bread making.
