    Local Marriage Customs.
    Long ago there were many more marriages than are nowadays and many customs were observed, and the following are some of them. Marriages principally took place during Shrove and during the months of June and November. The days thought unlucky for marriage are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and the unlucky months are May, July and August.
