    Seed potatoes are planted by making holes in the ridges with a spade. The ridges are then pounded with a pounder. When the stalks come over ground the furrows are ploughed and the ridges are trenched. The names of the potatoes known in this district are Kerr Pinks, Aran Banners, Champions, British Queens, Epicures, Flounders, The champion grows best here. A lot of starch was taken from this potato long ago.
