    bounded over the ditch on his left hand side and sprang toward the crib. Light was flaming from its eyes and it uttered unearthly screams. Dan shook the holy water on it and then the screams became terrific. He forced the trembling horse towards the Bridge and when he got over it he looked back and beheld a flame moving quickly "down through the rays" and unnatural howling accompanied its motion.
    Dan reached Lomanagh safely. His horse died after a few days. He himself "fell into bad health" and died within a year of his encounter with the Spirit of Béul na Díoga.
