    It was at one time an important town and deirtear go raib luinge mhóra ag teacht agus ag imtheacht go dtí agus as an baile. It is in the Barony of Ibane and Barryroe and is in the main road from Cork to Skibberreen about 40 miles S.W. from Cork.
