    religious persecutions and settled in Co. Limerick in the district later known as Raleighstown. Years went by until Cromwell appeared. One day Cromwell saw two beautiful greyhounds in the neighbourhood and was told that they belonged to Raleigh of Raleighstown.
    The owner refused to give them up and shortly afterwards was dispossessed of his lands by Cromwell. He got a farm nearby and so the Raleighs from Anglo-Irish Planters became Irish farmers.
