1. Shrovetide begins on St. Stephen's Day and ends on Shrove Tuesday. This is a great time for matchmaking and marriages in country districts.
2. Pancakes are made for tea on Shrove Tuesday night. - St. Bridgid's Day.
It is a custom to put a white cloth on a tree on that night. - 1.
Everyone that can afford it has a "November barm-brack" for supper. Games are played with apples and nuts. A tub of water is placed in the middle of the floor. Some apples are put in(continues on next page)
