About two miles from Clonakilty there is a place called Ring, in which was a church long ago but only the walls remain. There is a stone in the centre of the field with a hole in it. When the tide goes out the stone empties itself, and when the tide comes in the hole fills. At one side of the wall there are four steps, and a hole in the wall. It is said Lepers used to listen to the Mass through the hole. Near the ruins there is a well called the Blind Well.
