Donal Camm and were taking them south to the castle through this "bearna" or gap, when Donal overtook them there and brought back his cattle. A battle was fought there between them and many were slain.
Another story is told about "Leaba Dhiarmuda" This place is situated in Eoghain Hill. Long ago it was the custom for the people to steal one another's wife It happened that Diarmuid drew sand to a cave under the rock there, and then stole the wife of Fionn and took her there.
It is said that whenever Fionn put his thumb in his mouth, he would get knowledge. So he went to the seaside searching the sand for her, never expecting sand in the hill. He did not succeed in finding her. Thus the place gets its name.
