    Here's the crooked child that the crooked woman had that married the crooked man,
    That rode the crooked horse that ate the crooked grass that grew crooked under the crooked crab tree.

    The little red hen, she brewed she baked for Gentlemen,
    Gentlemen came in one day and little brown Bess was out of the way.
    The cat in the corner fighting the fish,
    The dog in the cupboard licking the dish,
    The mouse upstairs dressing the bed,
    The pig in the pigsty combing her head,
    The bull in the barn threshing the corn,
    The old grey mare outside the gate begging a bit for God's sake,
    Pence a piece for ducks and geese and nothing for our old starved gander.
