  1. Long ago there lived a man in Cahirkeem and a friend of his was dead in the mines. He went west to the wake. That night they sent him a message and when he came home he went to bed. About twelve o'clock the woman of the house called him to get up and say the Rosary. When she went up to the room he was in, she found him dying in the bed. She went for the priest and doctor and they could not make out what was wrong with him. After the doctor and priest had gone away he died. It was said afterwards that a foxy woman met him on the hill. Máire Ní Mhurchadha told them that she was a fairy woman that met him on the hill and that she took him away.
