    a. Mrs Gaeney (dec), North Marsh, Church Cross, Skibbereen was seen to carry a twenty stone bag of meal (a sack) from the main road to the top of the rock - about 200 yards.
    b. Jim Evans (37 years) Ardralla, Church X, Skibbereen took three cwt. bags of coal tied in one rope from the strand to his home - uphill - about 400 yards.
    c. Patrick Hickey (27 years) Newcourt, Skibbereen took a two cwt. bag of artificial manure by the car, threw it over his shoulder and carried it to a field on the farm.
    d. Bob Swanton, Ardralla, Church Cross, Skibbereen can still lift two half cwts. on his two little fingers and put them over his head.
