    fort which is situated in Clooncagh, in the parish of Carniska, Strokestown, Co Roscommon It was supposed to be placed by the fairies who inhabit the fort long ago. It is not known for certain what the treasure consists of but it is supposed to be buried gold.
    Long ago people thought that if they went to the fort before twelve o clock on a starlit night that they would see fairies who would point out where the gold was hidden A few people went to the fort but the fairies never appeared.
