  1. There was a poet born in this townland over forty years ago, named William Carty son of the late Mr and Mrs Michael Carty of Aughalustia.
In his childhood he attended a National School and later on he attended St Nathy's Colltage Ballaghadereen.
After some years he went to training and became a National Teacher. He had a great desire for travelling and he went out to Australia and settled down there. Now he is married and he is teaching in the State School Amby, Queensland, Australia.
He writes poetry both in English and Irish. We have come across some of his Irish poetry.
