  1. One night two men from Wolfhill were coming home from Carlow. They had some drink taken, and as they were walking along they saw something black under a nearby tree. One of the men went over and kicked it. It jumped at him and fought and beat him till he was nearly dead. The other man induced him to come home, but all the time the black object kept on following them.
No matter when this man went out even in broad day-light, it followed him. He went to a priest and the priest told him it was an evil spirit and that he must cross the sea to get rid of it.
On the morning the man boarded the ship he looked back to the shore when he was safely sailing away, and there shouting at him and waving a most awful looking fist was the black object.
This thank God, was the last time he saw it.
