  1. Smoking Jack
    The Smoking Jack is still used in the district of Chatsworth. A low bottle is procured and then a spool is pared at one end and put it in the top of the bottle like a cork. Then they get a piece of round tin like the barrel of a pen and place this in the hole of the cork. Then they make a wick from cotton thread and put it through the piece of tin. The paraffin oil is placed in the bottle before this and the wick is lighted. This served as a light for the people long ago and is still used.
