  1. An old resident says that this stone was being brought by cart to the graveyard at Coughlanstown and that the cart broke down at this spot. The stone was left at the side of the road.
    It is said also that the abbot of the monastery in Coughlanstown used to walk to the spot which was afterwards marked by this stone.
