At length we reached the draper's shop.
    And when we entered, there
Were all colours and all patterns
Of which you'd like to wear.
The place all draped in finery
    Of every shade and hue
    The sight was most entrancing
    For anyone to view.
There were no lack of attendants
There were two men and a boy
And my mother asked the man in charge
    Had he much corduroy.
He said he had the most in town
And the price not very high
The material is genuine to keep.
    You warm and dry.
She asked him how much it was a yard
And he said the price was small
Compared with what the rest would ask
If she went round them all.
    My question's yet unanswered
    Was my mother's next reply
If you do not ask a price.
