  1. Beggar folk carrying small sacks for meal and potatoes and selling small articles like pines laces have ceased here. An occasional wanderer passes seeking a penny. Since the workhouses closed 15 years ago these people too are rare. We have however caravans passing between Dundalk and Cavan towns.
    These sell baskets chairs tins rugs and some tell fortunes. Some of the women folk were long earings They camp at crossroads and near good shelter and water. The latest I like
