  2. This townland takes it name from St. Martin, who is the Patron Saint of this district. There is a graveyard known as St. Martin's graveyard in which are the ruins of an old Church, which was called St. Martin's Church. It is supposed to have been knocked down by the Soldiers of Cromwell.
    The graveyard is still in use for burials.
    Not far away a Fair or Pattern used to be held at a place called Templemartin Cross. This has been discontinued for over a century
