- (continued from previous page)when anyone would have "St. Anthony's Fire," which is a rash, somebody with good blood would bleed his finger and put his blood on the person with the disease. This was a very good cure, and it was always kept up by the people of The Rower. It is not done now because there are many other cures.
6. Marsh-mallow is a very good cure for a sprained foot. Before they are of any use, they should be boiled, and made into a poultice. Then it is tied around the foot. This is done at present in the parish of The Rower.
7. "Gilthuck” is a leaf like a dock-leaf mixed with hay is a good cure for horses with moths, or worms in the stomach. A lot of people use it.
8. Rib-grass is great to cure a cut. It is not used very often now, but in olden times the people used to grind up the rib-grass and heat it. Then they put it to the cut.
9. Dried salt is used for curing a sore throat. It should be well heated by the fire before placed to the neck. Gladam a plant like grass ground up, and damped is also good for a sore throat.
