  1. The Townsland of Ballyreddy is about mid way between Listerlin and New Ross. The land is fertile and overlooks the river Nore. On these lands there once stood a noble mansion owned by a Norman Knight called De Freyne. He was Lord of Ballyreddy and the adjoining lands.
    There is no trace now of the Castle or mansion. There is however a well which marks the site where once stood that noble mansion. It is known locally as Kathleen Ryder's well.
    There is a legend about Ballyreddy Castle and its one time owner.
    The story is as follows.
    One evening when De Freyne of Ballyreddy castle was returning from the chase, he met a very pretty peasant girl named Kathleen Ryder. She was very beautiful and he admired her and fell in love with her. She lived
