the Protestant gave the priest cabbage and fat bacon. The priest said it was Friday and that he would not eat the meat. Then the Protestant began to apologise. The priest had a dog with him whose name was Friday, and the Protestant said he would give the meat to the dog. He left it down to the dog, and when the priest looked at the dog he said "Oh, Friday" and the dog walked away with his tail between his legs.
The Protestant thought that the dog knew it was Friday, and he was thoroughly ashamed of himself.
