    When the butter is ready for lifting it is taken up on a wooden dish and then salt is added to it. It is then "haired" by running a knife through it cross ways. Washing then takes place with cold water, to take the butter milk out of it. It is then weighed up in lbs, some of which is sold and some kept for use in the house.
