    ago that it was lucky to sow wheat on the 15th November and farmers did their best to do so that day. Others thought it very lucky to sow oats on the 18th March even if the weather was not suitable.
    In olden times people sowed turnips on the 10th May and if they failed to so so on that date they waited until the same date in the following month.
