  1. Rejoice you bold Clontibret boys, you sons of Brian Boru,
    You showed your light on Saint Johns night your distant hill to view,
    Your coal and tar was seen so far to show you're living still,
    To celebrate all victory and illuminate the hill

    St Marys band it did beat grand in circles round the blaze,
    Both young and old they did make bold and on it they did gaze
    Their drums did sound like thunder their flutes played sweet and shrill,
    It mad the valleys echo around Lisdinney Hill.

    The Derrynoose men to make noise in thousands they did come,
    They marched that night with grand torch light to the noise of fife and drum,
    To view the famed Clontibret maids it was their motive still
    Who lived along the border of sweet Lisdinny Hill

    When the door was laid down the dancing did begin,
    Derrynoose against Clontibret to see which of them would
