  1. There was a hedge school at Gleann-a capaill.
    The name of the master who was teaching there was John O'Connor.
    They started school at ten o'clock in the morning and they ended up at four o'clock in the evening.
    He had a night school too and used to teach from six until ten. He was brought out of the work-house. He was never teaching anywhere before. There is no one of his descendants living around here now. He used to stay at Donughues of Gleann-a-capaill.
    They had no Irish at that time and if any one spoke
