- In very olden times education was'nt very good and schools were few and far between. There was an old school teacher locally known as Chrith McDonagh. He was an old miser and went around to the country houses teaching the children who had grown as tall as himself, without ever seeing a school. The boys were wearing plaid dresses and over-alls, barefooted and bare-headed.
One night Chrith lost a half-penny and he burned a half-penny searching for it and could'nt find it.
