  1. (continued from previous page)
From England, Scotland, and from Wales,
And from far off lands as well,
In thousands they that day did roam
    At sweet St. James' Well.
    (iv)
And you kind master fond and true
    I hope you're teaching still.
In that dear old school down by the rippling rill.
It was there in happy days gone by
You taught me first to spell.
Long ere I thought I'd have to roam
    From sweet St James' Well.
    (v)
Now to conclude and finish well.
    Those few and simple lines
Written by an Irish boy three thousand miles away.
And you kind master fond and true
    And comrades fare ye well.
My kind regards I send to all
    Around St. James' Well.
