    widow's son and she was there when her son was put up to be hanged. The rope broke and he came down to the ground safely. When the widow saw that her son was safe she said, "Thanks be to God I have my son" and the hangman said - "If there is not a rope in Sligo to hang him," and he was put up the second time and hanged. The second man was also hanged. The maid who swore against them never had a day's luck. Every drink she put to her head was full of creepers.
