  1. Severe Weather
    About sixty years ago there was a big fall of snow. It lasted for ten weeks. There was a big fair held in Miltown a little time before Christmas at that time. The people that came to the fair had to tie 'súgáns' around their legs so that they would be able to walk.
    That same year the ice on the river Maine was so thick, that the late Sir William Godfrey walked across it with his dog.
