    Long ago there used to go round the country men named Poor Scholars. One of these men went to a house and asked the people to give shelter and something to eat. They let him in. Then they put a pot of stirabout on the fire for the supper. The night fell and it became very dark. The people had no lamps at this time. They put a lump of fur into the fire and it blazed up and gave them light. The Poor Scholar got his supper also. Then the man of the man of the
