    Years ago when butter making was in full swing, if people were making butter when a stranger comes in they would ask him to twist the handle of the barrel or it was supposed if he did not they would not be able to make the butter.
    On may Eve people bring leaves of the Summer tree to keep out the fairies. Another custom was to have a girl to sleep on a piece of a wedding cake and she is supposed to dream of her future husband.
