  1. The tallon iron is an iron used for the making up of a cap called the fore bordered cap. This cap was worn by women long ago together with a cloak called the hood cloak. The hood cloak and fore bordered cap were fashionable in their time. The dress at that time is similar to what the nuns wear to day.
