The habits of people have got so much changed
That there's nothing so good as to look half-deranged
When the brutes of the field are let loose from their stakes
They cut many wild capers, frolicsomes and freaks
But a man that has reason and sense in his head
And that acts like a brute must be greatly misled
These acts, I imagine, are not very grand
In any refined, civilized or Christianized land.
It appeared the whole frolic was learned or borrowed
From lunatics embellished or something more horrid
So no matter what luminaries or chroniclers paint.
This land is no longer an Island of Saints.
So I saw to it that the half-set ear(?) that I conclude
The dance is both awkward, disgustful and rude
