  1. His [informant's] grandmother who died in 1907 was over 90 years of age. She was at a dance in a turf house the night of the Big Wind on the 6th Jan 1839. The people at the dance could not leave for home till morning.
    The house was cut into the turf bank. A square of turf was cut inside leaving an empty space - the walls of the house stood till a few years ago.
