  1. About sixty years ago there was a secret society called Fenians.
    There was a man who informed on them
    One night they came to his house and beat him with wattles untill they thought he was dead.
    Then they went off a bit and one of them came back to see that he was really dead.
    He got a red coal and put it to the informer's jaw and he was such a brave and gallant man that he never stirred.
    When the Fenians were gone the informer followed them and informed the police.
    Then they were arrested and tried and transported for life.
