  2. "An gobán saor"
Bhí gobán saor ar leabaidh an báis. Bhí gobán go h-an mhaith ag deanamh caisleáin, agus bhí an mac ag fóghluim uaidhe. Ba mhaith leis an mac an t eolas deirid bheith aige sul má gheobfadh gobán saor bás. Nuair tháinic an mac abhaile oidhche amháin d'fhiafruighe gobán saor de raibh aon sgéal aige. "Níl aon sgéal agam, acht go bhfuil caisleán bhaile an chláir ag tuitim" ar seisean. "Ní chreidim sin" arsa gobán saor", mar nuair bhí mise agdeanamh an chaisleáin sin, chuir me caid ar chaid, agus caid os cionn caid, agus caid idir dhá chaid", agus nuair fheiceas tusa, an taol agbriseadh amach tríd an mballa sin é an uair a bheas an caisleán ag dainghniúghadh."
