  1. Long ago when people were getting married they went to either the man's or woman's house and make the match. When they were going to be married the woman would sit behind the man on a white horse.
    The fortune usually given nowadays is money but long ago they gave clothes stock or oats. The girl usually brings clothes or furniture.
    They make a party for their friends and neighbors.
    I got this information from my grand-mother aged 70 years.
