a tub-shape, but in former times they were of a barrel type. On the lid there was a small circular hole with the dash passed through it. Churning generally takes a half an hour. Water is often put into the churn during the process. It helps to make the butter quickly. When the churning is made the butter is taken out with a butter-cup and put into the butter-dish. Then it is rinced thoroughly. When the butter is free from butter-milk, it is salted, and it is made into cubicals. Butter-milk is used for making cakes, and fresh butter-milk is often used as a drink.
