  1. In a lane leading from the square to the Cobbe estate is a house, a long low thatched house occupied bu Mr Carolan, a retired policeman. Here for years a school was conducted. Later new ones were built - the girls' was in the house occupied now by Mr Phelan and Mr Farrell, across the playground walk from the present school. The boys' was in the house occupied till recently by the boy's teacher Mrs O'Brien. and now vacant. It is a short distance from the present school - towards Portrane and on the other side of the road from the shoemakers.
Those buildings became too small. In 1914 Father Magill completed the present schools. The boys' and girls' schools adjoin each other. They are red brick build each consisting of two large rooms and a spacious hall.
The playgrounds are large but rather soft. It is the intention of the present parish priest to have them concreted and shelter erected for the use of the children
