eye. They are put in boxes and are put in lofts or dark places to bud.
During the summer months the potatoes are sprayed with bluestone. In the Autumn the potato crop is dug out. Some of the farmers have potato diggers. The children and women help to pick them.
The potatoes are put in pits. They are put in a hole first and straw is put over them. Then sand is piled up over the straw. Some of the potatoes grown in Rush are: Champions, Queens, Up-to-Dates, Kerr's Pinks and Shamrocks.
