    owned the Strand and all the woar that comes in from the sea from Healy's bay to Bearnagearagh. If you were caught taking woar off the strand you would have to pay a shilling a load to the landlord. The Rush men who used to come to Skerries for woar would not pay the shilling so the landlord built a wall where the men used to pass so that they could not get the woar. The men knocked down the wall the next day and got all the woar they could. However when the landlord heard this, he dug a trench in the ground but the men filled it in so
