(continued from previous page)A woman, who was living in the suburbs of Derry was supposed to be a witch because she had only one cow and yet she could sell seventy-five pounds of butter Her husband was watching her own night as she was making a garment. As she had no buttons she took a piece of butter and put it on the floor and then she put a spark on it, and it became a gold button. When she had made seven she sowed them on the garment.When eight o'clock came a wee man dressed in red was seen standing in the middle of the floor. When he saw her husband sitting in the corner he disappeared.The man, knowing she was a relative of the fairies, took his pistol and aimed at her but it was all in vain. He then remembered that a witch should be shot with silver and he put in a shilling to his pistol and aimed again and so the shilling struck her she fell dead.
