    The tailor uses scissors, thread, needles, a tailor's thimble, sewing machine, chalk, tape line, a large iron called the "goose" and the board for pressing the clothes.
    Socks and stockings are not much knit. unless for people's own use. There is a home in Carran where knitting socks, stockings, jumpers, cardigans and such like articles is carried on. There are several spinning wheels in the district but they are not used now. There is one in John Moore's, Carran. one in John McCollum's, Carran, one in Mrs Sweeney's, Magheraurarden.
